Oregano Oil - Not Just for Beautiful Skin
By Roger Baird
Your skin is your largest organ. It truly reflects what is going on inside your body. Healthy people stand out because of the glow of their radiant skin.
Many skin disorders are caused by overgrowth of the fungus, Candida albicans. Too much sugar and refined flour in the modern diet feed Candida. It also appears regularly after treatment with antibiotics. Candida is naturally present in the gut. When it gains a strong foothold in the body, it can eventually enter the blood where it wreaks havoc with the skin. Adult acne, eczema, psoriasis, nail fungus and dandruff are just some of the symptoms of Candida infection. Left untreated, Candida infection can turn into debilitating and life threatening diseases.
One of natureís most versatile and effective healing aids is the oil derived from the wild Mediterranean Oregano. In laboratory testing it has been proven to be one of the strongest antifungals available. It is effective against Candida.
Oregano oil may be used topically and internally. Both methods are useful when treating skin disorders. Add a few drops to your shampoo as you are shampooing to rid yourself of dandruff.
Diet is also a very important factor when combating Candida. It is vital to eliminate sugar and refined foods from the diet. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables along with pure spring water will assist the body in getting rid of this unwanted guest.
Oregano oil contains rosmarinic acid, one of natureís most powerful antioxidants. A few drops of oregano oil can provide more antioxidants than a full serving of fruits or vegetables. Antioxidants help our bodies to destroy free radicals which can cause cell damage and symptoms such as early aging of the skin.
Oregano oil stimulates bile production which allows us to digest our food more easily and effectively so that we can derive more nutrients from what we eat. It also helps get rid of bloating. By absorbing more nutrients, all our body systems enjoy improved vitality.
With summer here, flying insects become a nuisance. Oregano oil has anti-venom as well as anti-inflammatory and pain killing properties. If you are allergic to wasp or bee stings, carry a bottle of Oregano oil with you. It will neutralize venom and draw it out of the wound, perhaps saving your life and giving you time to seek medical attention. Insects are averse to Oregano oil. It defeats scabies, lice and ticks with direct application. If insect bites give you unsightly red, swollen marks on the skin, apply some oregano oil before bed and be amazed at the improvement when you wake up.
People are reporting excellent results using Oregano oil against skin cancers with topical application and internal use combined.
Oregano oil is powerful in its pure form so it must be diluted with a carrier such as olive oil. A safe and effective ratio is 1 part Oregano oil to 4 parts olive oil. All ingredients should be certified organic to avoid chemical contamination. This is particularly important when using an essential oil like oregano as it rapidly enters the bloodstream through the skin and the lungs. If any carcinogenic chemicals are present, they gain direct entry to the cells.
Drink lots of pure spring water throughout the day to help flush toxins from the body which are caused when fungi, bacteria and other parasites are destroyed.
